Happy Birthday Mother of the Bride!

June 5, 2009

At the reception

We wanted to wish, MaryLee, the mother of the bride, a very happy birthday today!  We won’t say how old she is, mostly because it gives away how old the bride is as well!

Today is Mom’s birthday and not only did we want to wish her a very happy birthday, but to thank her for everything she did for our wedding from touring endless wedding venues crammed into a very short weekend, buying the beer for the engagement party, trekking all that wine home from the shower (8 or 10 cases!), letting the house become wedding central (hotel gift bags in the kitchen, wedding flowers in the living room, menus in Jennifer’s old room, steaming the rehearsal gown (unsuccessfully with Dad, Patrick, and Melissa – no one knows how to use that thing), and sucking it up to buying a dress for the big day.  (Anyone who truly knows MaryLee knows what a chore that actually was…)

On this very day last year, not only was it Mom’s birthday, but it was a very wedding-oriented day.  I found all of the bridesmaid dresses at Gainesville’s Urban Thread! (Gorgeous J. Crew wedding gowns for the girls and I picked them up for a steal for all 4 bridesmaids – another post on that sometime.)  After picking up the dresses and hitting the turnpike, I also had a genius wedding moment and stopped at the service plaza and cleared out all the “Things to Do in South Florida” packets to include in the wedding welcome bags!

Happy Birthday, Mom!  Hope you’re enjoying the day!

P.S.  The box with your birthday present is still sitting by my front door!  It will make it there eventually!

One Month of Married Life

October 13, 2008

It has been exactly one month since we tied the knot!  I can’t tell if it feels like forever or no time at all!  Either way, we are both very happy!

Thank You Notes – Round 2!

October 12, 2008

Wow, so those of you who have never gotten married or had a wedding, thank you notes take FOREVER!!!

We’ve just finished round 2 of the thank you notes. And oh yes, there will be a round 3.

To all of you who have not gotten theirs yet, it is coming…and we do thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of our special day, sharing our celebration, or sending your warm wishes.

Anyone Have an Extra Wedding Menu?

October 9, 2008

We were just wondering if any of you who were able to join us for our big day last month had taken an extra reception menu?

I had asked the Sundy House wait staff (two of them) to keep them for me so we could have a few for a memento and they ended up throwing them all out.

I’ve looked through all our boxes and folders from the wedding and definitely don’t have any.

We wondering if any of you had one that you could send us, please? It would be greatly appreciated.

Gift Mystery Solved!

October 2, 2008

The case of Calphalon sauce pan is solved! And we didn’t even get to ride in the Mystery Machine to figure it out.

One of our tricky, tricky friends slid his card inside the pan, which we didn’t see until early this morning when I actually opened the package. (It’s been slightly delayed since we had to ship a lot of things from the wedding back up to New York!)

It was 6:00 AM and I was so excited to have solved the mystery that I ran upstairs and promptly jumped on the bed to share the news with my sweetie.

He was less than thrilled. But he should be used this by now…between Star and I, he can’t sleep late.

We feel so much better about solving this mystery, especially since my sweetie will be signing his autograph to all the thank-you notes this weekend so I can FINALLY put them in the mail!

And to think in Kindergarten, I was always playing Scooby-Doo with my friends. At 5 I was always taking on the role of Daphne (I liked her dress!), but at 30 I think Velma (now I wear glasses!) is much cooler.

Mystery Wedding Gift – Reward Offered!

September 30, 2008

Mystery Wedding Gift Found!

Where – The Cottage, The Sundy House
When – Wedding Night (Saturday 13 September 2008)
What – Calphalon Tri Ply Stainless 2 1/2-Quart Covered Shallow Saucepan

Reward Offered – Awesome Thank You Note!!

My sweetie…my husband…is back from a long stint on a shoot out in the middle of nowhere in Massachusetts and we’re having a hard time with some of our thank you notes.

You see, when the staff at the Sundy House put all the cards and gifts in the honeymoon cottage where we stayed that night, they separated everything. All the packages/gifts in one area and all the cards in the basket. They even took cards that were taped or attached to packages and put them into the basket.

We’ve figured out some of them, but need your help with others.

We got a Calphalon Tri Ply Stainless 2 1/2-Quart Covered Shallow Saucepan. It was inside a gift bag with no card or anything.
We really like it and would love to give you a proper thank you, so if it came from you, or you know who gave it to us, please let us know!

Thanks so much!

Please Don’t Take My Kodachrome Away…

September 26, 2008

I saw an article online the other day about how Kodak’s Kodachrome film is on its way out. If you’re part of the “digital revolution” — ask my sweetie about this in more detail if you want — you are probably already aware that this has been true for some time.

In fact, I thought that Kodachrome was already gone.

Anyway, this article reminded me of one of my favorite moments at our wedding reception, which will be two weeks ago tomorrow. Near the end of the evening, some of my best friends and I were dancing in a group to Paul Simon’s Kodachrome.

It’s one of our favorite songs.

Listen to it here. (I would have embedded it, but it wasn’t working out.)
